Wedding Party Favours

Many things about the modern wedding may have changed, but one thing that hasn’t changed is the couple’s responsibility to provide wedding party favours. Wedding party favours are not quite the same thing as the favours that are provided for all the guests who take the time to attend the wedding. Instead, wedding party favours are those thoughtful gifts that are presented to all the members of the wedding party. This would include the groomsmen, bridesmaids, best man, maid or matron of honor, ring bearer and flower girl. Other individuals that might be included in the list of persons who receive wedding party favours are ushers, junior bridesmaids and anyone else who has helped to make the day special such as a friend who sang a special song or gave a reading during the ceremony.

Unfortunately, some couples take the wrong attitude about wedding party favours and wonder why they should buy gifts for someone else when it’s their special day. Other than the fact that purchasing wedding party favours is a tradition that is expected, it is just good manners. The individuals you ask to be a part of your wedding are taking time out of their lives, and their busy schedules, to accommodate you and your wedding. In some cases, this means taking time off work, traveling out of town, paying for accommodations. Then there’s the cost of their wardrobe for the day. Even tuxedo rentals don’t come cheap. Given the fact that they are doing all of that for you on your wedding day, the least you can do is purchase special momentos or wedding party favours to say ‘thank you.’

When it comes to ideas, wedding party favours run the gamut. If a couple is having a themed wedding they might think about incorporating them into the wedding party favours. This allows a couple to be really creative and give a unique and thoughtful gift to the people in their wedding party. Inscribed and monogrammed wedding party favours are always a nice way to tell those special people that you appreciate all they have done to make your wedding memorable.

Some people in your wedding party may be a little more difficult to shop for. After all, you can’t exactly present a monogrammed flask to your flower girl, no matter how nice it is. A book about flower girls or a pretty little necklace make wonderful wedding party favours for flower girls.

One great idea to keep in mind for wedding party favours is gift certificates and gift cards. Years ago it wouldn’t have been considered appropriate to present gift certificates for wedding party favours, and would have been likened to cash; something that might have even been thought of as crass. Modern society has changed much of such antiquated thinking and most people now would gladly welcome a nice gift certificate or gift card to a coffee house, or some other favourite shop or location. Finally, don’t forget that when your budget I getting a little cramped there is nothing wrong with making your own wedding party favours. These are often the gifts people will treasure and remember the longest.
