Wedding Showers. What a perfect way to get a bunch of girlfriends together to celebrate one of the most important days in a woman’s life--her wedding. To make this day a little more exciting for your beloved bride, try a theme shower! The first thing you need to think about is what kind of wedding shower theme the bride would enjoy. Is she a party person? Then, try a “fiesta” shower. Is she more of a laid-back tea-drinker? How about a tea party? Here are a few ideas to get you started.

Fiesta Shower: There is so much fun to be had when you add tequila and best friends! Decorate the house with sombreros, ponchos, and chili peppers. Hang an authentic, candy-filled piñata donkey from the ceiling and have a wild game to see who can smack the piñata to pieces. Serve Mexican food, such fajitas, nachos and cheese, and chips and salsa. Very importantly, don’t forget to spice up the party with traditional and fruit-flavored margaritas. And, if the wedding shower fiesta lasts into the night, rent Desperado and swoon over Antonio Banderas.

Tea Party: This kind of wedding shower is perfect for an afternoon with the girls. Make the invitations “girly.” You know, flowers, teapots; anything “pink” would be appropriate. At the shower, serve--you guessed it--tea! But don’t just serve English breakfast. Serve peach tea, raspberry tea, chamomile, vanilla tea, green tea, and chai. And serve it hot and cold. On an elegant plate, place the condiments that naturally go along with tea, such as honey, sugar, sugar substitute, milk, and lemon wedges. If you want to go all out, serve the tea in teapots. However, tea pouches will certainly do just fine. But don’t forget, some people may not drink tea. So, offer soda, or dare I say coffee, for people who want something different. Now, moving on to the food. Serve dainty croissant sandwiches full of tuna or egg salad. Try fresh brie and mini-quiches. And don’t forget the sandwich that is essential for all tea parties to offer: cucumber sandwiches with the crusts cut off.

Lingerie Shower: Do you know that it is a tradition for the bride to wear different lingerie every night of her honeymoon? You can always get her started with a lingerie party. This kind of party isn’t for the faint of heart. As we know, a party like this can get a little risqué. However, if you know that your bride will blush in a fun way, give it a shot. The invites should be fun and flirty. As for the shower, make sure that everyone brings sexy gifts like slips, robes, bras, panties, teddies, or anything else the imagination can dream up!
